About the Scholarship Provider
The HEST is powered by WeMakeScholars, funded and supported by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Govt. of India, under the ‘Digital India’ campaign. WeMakeScholars is India’s largest education finance marketplace that assists students with scholarships and education loans to study abroad and study in India.
WeMakeScholars was founded in 2015 by a team of Indian scholars and entrepreneurs who realized the need for more opportunities and resources for Indian students to access higher education. WeMakeScholars aims to democratize education and make it accessible and affordable for everyone.
WeMakeScholars works with various partners and donors to provide scholarships, education loans, mentorship, and guidance for Indian students pursuing higher education in reputable institutions worldwide. WeMakeScholars also supports research and innovation projects that address India’s challenges and opportunities.
WeMakeScholars’ vision is to create a generation of Indian leaders who will contribute to their country’s and the world’s social, economic, and political development. WeMakeScholars’ mission is to empower Indian students with the knowledge, skills, and values to enable them to achieve their academic and professional goals and make a difference in the world.
Eligible Applicants
The HEST 2024 is open to Indian students who meet the following criteria:
- You must be an Indian citizen.
- You must plan to study abroad within the next 12 months (in 2024).
- You need not produce the foreign university admission confirmation at the moment. It can be submitted later while receiving the scholarship cash award.
- It would be best if you had a minimum score of 55% in 10th and 12th.
- Students going abroad for Bachelors, Masters, MBA, or Diploma programs are eligible to apply. MBBS, MD, or PhD programs are ineligible for this scholarship.
- Those who will be self-funding their total expenses are not eligible for this scholarship program as we believe they are financially stable to fund their studies. Our motto is to support the needy and financially weak students.
- HEST intends to support those applicants who will be funding their total expenses (including tuition fees, living, and travel expenses) using an education loan. Note: During our last season of HEST 2023, many students submitted fake loan sanction letters, either taken just for visa purposes or to process their HEST scholarship application ahead of time. Hence, this year (HEST 2024), we have made this condition mandatory that only students processing their education loans via WeMakeScholars are eligible for this scholarship. Also, since only about 2-5% of students get good scholarships, it’s crucial to have a robust backup funding source to make your dream of studying abroad come true. WeMakeScholars will not charge any service fee for any HEST applicants.

The HEST 2024 is a global scholarship program that allows you to choose from a list of partner universities in different countries and regions. Scholarship Worth
The HEST 2024 offers total scholarships up to 2 Cr, with each scholarship up to 3 Lacs, for your studies in one of the partner universities. The exact value of each scholarship depends on the quality and quantity of scholarship applications received in that particular season.
The HEST 2024 also provides non-financial benefits, such as:

Level and Field of Study
The HEST 2024 is open to students who want to pursue a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, an MBA, or a diploma in any field of study offered by the partner universities. The HEST 2024 does not support MBBS, MD, or PhD studies.

How to Apply
The HEST 2024 application process consists of the following steps:
- Step 1: Register on the HEST website and create your profile. You must provide your personal information, academic background, preferred field of study, and partner university.
- Step 2: Complete the online application form and upload the required documents, such as your transcripts, certificates, passport, and proof of education loan processing via WeMakeScholars.
- Step 3: Take the HEST online. The HEST is a computer-based test that consists of four sections: Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Analytical Writing, and Creative Thinking. The HEST takes about three hours to complete and can be taken at any time and place that suits you. You will need a reliable internet connection and a webcam to take the HEST.
- Step 4: Wait for the HEST results and the scholarship decision. The HEST results will be available on your profile within two weeks after the test. The scholarship decision will be announced within four weeks after the HEST deadline. You will receive an email notification and a letter of offer if selected for the scholarship.
- Step 5: Accept the scholarship offer and confirm your enrollment. You will need to accept the scholarship offer and confirm your enrollment in your chosen partner university within two weeks of receiving the offer. You will also need to complete the visa and travel arrangements with the assistance of WeMakeScholars and the partner university.
Countries that can Apply
The HEST 2024 is open to students from India only. However, some partner universities may have specific requirements or preferences for students from certain states or regions. You can check each partner university’s eligibility and selection criteria on the HEST website.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the HEST 2024, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must be an Indian student who meets the eligibility criteria for the partner university and your chosen field of study.
- You must have a solid academic record and demonstrate your potential for higher education.
- You must have a clear and realistic career plan and show how your studies will contribute to your personal and professional development and the development of your country and the world.
- You must have a good command of the English language and communicate effectively in an academic setting.
- It would help if you had a positive attitude and willingness to learn and adapt to new situations and challenges.

Scholarship Deadline
The HEST 2024 application cycle will open on January 1, 2024, and close on March 31, 2024. The HEST online test must be taken by April 15, 2024. The HEST results and the scholarship decision will be announced by May 15, 2024. The scholarship offer must be accepted and the enrollment confirmed by June 15, 2024.
