Studying in Spain at a Spanish University means living an extraordinary academic and cultural experience.
The universities of Spain offer world-class degrees, bachelor’s degrees, postgraduate degrees, master’s degrees, and PhDs. They stand out for several reasons:

For its educational quality and international character, it is a good reason, but also, Latin American and Spanish-speaking students do not have to worry about adapting to the Spanish language, even more, of our culture and security.
Similarly, and something very important, most of our universities are public with reasonable access, not far behind their prestige, being ranked in the best positions worldwide.
About The Scholarship
The Obra Social Foundation celebrates the opening of the INPhINIT Incoming program for La Caixa doctorate scholarships in Europe: specifically in distinctive or exceptional research centers located in Spain or Portugal.
Researchers from all over the world can participate, with no age limit. The goal is to support outstanding scientists so that they can pursue their doctorate in competitive environments.
Likewise, the areas of study for these scholarships are technology, engineering, physics, health sciences, and mathematics. In addition, there are 35 scholarships available.
“La Caixa” Social Work Foundation
This foundation was born in Spain in 1992, it is non-profit and seeks to improve the possibility of progress in society. They carry out their task by generating opportunities for people who have less access to them. In addition, they generate activities related to education, culture, and science. Another axis of action is the environment and the dissemination of both science and technology.
It offers scholarships to achieve its goal and more than 4,700 people have received aid to carry out their studies.
La Caixa
They aim to financially support talented researchers who want to develop their doctoral studies in Europe. For this reason, they promote innovative research, carried out by talented scientists.
The INPhINIT Incoming doctoral scholarships are intended for those researchers who want to carry out their projects in research centers that have the Spanish Seal of Excellence:
- Severo Ochoa.
- Maria de Maeztu.
- Or, the Carlos III Health Institute.
Portuguese centers that have been classified as “excellent” or “exceptional” may also be chosen, according to the evaluation of the Fundação de Ciência e Tecnología.
Who can apply for La Caixa Ph.D. scholarships
Anyone can apply:
- Students from all over the world who want to do a doctorate.
- To study in Spain or Portugal, applicants cannot have resided there for more than 12 months in the last three (3) years.
In addition, they must have:
- At the academic level, they must have completed their studies, obtaining an official degree. This can be Spanish or from another European country. Or have graduated with studies that allow you to start a doctorate in a country outside Europe, where you will have to verify your level of studies at the time of admission.
- Regarding experience, it will be requested that you be in the first four (4) years of your research career. In addition, it is required that you do not have a previous doctoral degree.
- They must also demonstrate a level of English, which will be B2.2 or higher, according to the exam taken.
How to sign up?
To start the application process for one of the scholarships, they will need to register on the La Caixa scholarship site and complete an online application form.
The documents to be presented and that will be evaluated for the pre-selection are:
- Academic experience.
- Motivation letter and presentation of objectives.
- Three (3) letters of recommendation, written in English.
- Among others.

Once the applications have been sent, the pre-selection of candidates will proceed, based on the elements already mentioned. Then, there will be a round of interviews where the successful candidates will be selected.
Profits
35 INPhINIT Incoming doctoral scholarships will be awarded. Scholarship holders will be able to carry out their doctoral research at the chosen institution within Spain or Portugal.
For this grant, they will receive a total economic benefit of €122,592 distributed per year for additional courses or others. In addition, they will have access to a workspace and will be provided with equipment so that they can carry out their projects.
On the other hand, they will have a follow-up plan, where the fellow and his supervisor will be able to demonstrate the progress and status of the investigation. They will also be able to access stays in industries or academic fields.
Another benefit is if you present your thesis after up to six (6) months after the end of the experience, after three (3) years. The amount of this benefit is €7,500.
Finally, they will be able to participate in various socialization and participation activities with the public.
When can you apply?
There is time to register for La Caixa scholarships until January 27, 2022. While the final results will be known on June 8, 2022.
