The SDU offers a Master of Engineering Scholarship to outstanding international students who wish to enroll in one of the following master’s programs in engineering:

  • MSc in Engineering – Mechatronics
  • MSc in Engineering – Electronics
  • MSc in Engineering – Mechanical Engineering

The Danish Government Scholarship program funds the scholarship, which the Ministry of Higher Education and Science supports. The scholarship covers the total or partial tuition fee and a monthly allowance for living expenses. The scholarship is highly competitive and awarded based on academic merit, motivation, and potential impact.

Scholarship Provider

The Danish Government Scholarship program is the scholarship provider, supported by the Ministry of Higher Education and Science. The program aims to attract and retain talented international students who can contribute to developing Denmark and their home countries. The program also supports the internationalization and quality enhancement of the Danish higher education system. The program allocates a certain number of scholarships to each university in Denmark, and the universities are responsible for selecting and awarding the scholarships to the eligible applicants.

Eligible Applicants

The eligible applicants for the scholarship are international students who are not citizens of the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA), or Switzerland. The applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • They must have completed a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering or a related field from a recognized institution of higher education.
  • They must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.
  • They must have a minimum score of 90 in the internet-based TOEFL test or 6.5 in the IELTS test or equivalent.
  • They must have a strong motivation and interest in the field of engineering and the chosen master’s program.
  • They must demonstrate a need for financial assistance and a potential for social impact.

Host Country

The scholarship’s host country is Denmark, a Nordic country in Northern Europe. Denmark is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary democracy and is a member of the EU, NATO, the OECD, and the UN. Denmark is known for its high standard of living, social welfare, environmental protection, and innovation. Denmark is also famous for its culture, history, and attractions, such as the Little Mermaid, the Tivoli Gardens, and the Lego House. The scholarship recipients will study at the SDU, which is located in the region of Southern Denmark. Southern Denmark is a diverse and dynamic region that offers a variety of natural, cultural, and recreational opportunities, such as the Wadden Sea, the Hans Christian Andersen Museum, and the Odense Zoo.

Scholarship Worth

The scholarship worth depends on whether the scholarship is granted as a whole or a partial tuition fee waiver. A full tuition fee waiver covers the tuition fee for the entire program duration, which is two years or four semesters. A partial tuition fee waiver covers the tuition fee for one year or two semesters, and the students must pay the tuition fee for the remaining semesters. The tuition fee for the master’s programs in engineering is 18,000 EUR per year or 9,000 EUR per semester. The scholarship also provides a monthly allowance of 1,200 EUR for living expenses, which is paid for 12 months. The scholarship does not cover other costs, such as travel, visa, insurance, and books. The scholarship recipients must cover these costs or seek other funding sources.

Level and Field of Study

The level of study for the scholarship is a master’s, and the field of study is engineering. The Faculty of Engineering offers master’s programs in engineering at the SDU, one of the leading engineering faculties in Denmark and Europe. The faculty strongly focuses on innovation, entrepreneurship, and collaboration with industry and society. The faculty offers a range of programs in various engineering fields, such as civil engineering, computer engineering, environmental engineering, and robotics engineering. The scholarship is available for the following three programs:

  • MSc in Engineering – Mechatronics: This program trains students in designing, developing, and optimizing complex mechatronic systems, which integrate mechanical, electrical, and software components. The program covers control theory, embedded systems, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. The program also offers several specializations, such as autonomous systems, biomedical engineering, and industrial automation.
  • MSc in Engineering – Electronics: This program trains students in designing, developing, and testing advanced electronic systems, which are used in various applications, such as communication, energy, health, and security.
