The Northshore Community College Scholarship Program provides scholarships to current, new, and graduate/alumni students of NCCS studying or continuing their education at four-year institutions.
Scholarships are awarded annually through a competitive application process, in consideration of academic and non-academic factors, including demonstrated need.
About Northshore Community College Scholarships
Since 1985, more than 3,800 scholarships totaling more than $3,200,000 have been awarded to NCCS students.
Select scholarships are available through the NCCS Foundation for incoming students enrolling at North Shore Community College for the 2023/2024 academic year.
The NCCS Foundation offers more than 1,100 scholarships and scholarships that help supplement your college tuition.
While some awards are specific to a campus, program, or year of study, many are open to new, returning, and graduate students, most awards are based on a variety of criteria; Academic standing, financial need, leadership, volunteer experience, and career interests.

Eligibility for Northshore Community College Scholarships 2023
When the NCCS application is active, applicants can access a list of student awards on our main student awards page. Application requirements for each student scholarship may vary based on the student scholarship criteria selected by NCCS donors.
However, the NCCS student award process is streamlined with many common requirements so applicants can complete them in a reasonable amount of time and start preparing their applications early.
Students can apply for all student awards for which they are eligible, with just one application. The process can be completed in this:
Applicants should use the chart below to filter the list of student awards. Be sure to choose the program and year in which they enrolled for the 2022 academic year. Please review each award to ensure they meet all listed requirements and save and want to request your award listing.
There is no save and submit function on the NCCS website, so when the applicant list is complete, be sure to gather and prepare the application requirements before submitting. Return to this site and complete the online application.
Most NCCS student awards require the completion of essay questions, the following are sample questions that can be asked on the student award application. Take some time to reflect on each of these questions and start making some notes to prepare yourself;
Please provide an overview of why you chose your program/field of study; your career aspirations and educational goals and how a previous NCCS education and experience have prepared you for this career; and why he believes he will be successful in his chosen profession after graduation.
Provide a summary of your involvement in extracurricular activities and/or volunteer work/community involvement. Include the names of the organizations, the time periods you were involved in, and a description of your duties for each activity.
Summarize, in a short essay, the challenges, and obstacles you have overcome to obtain your education. How has being an NSCC student reshaped the direction of your life? How will this award have a meaningful impact on your goals?

How to Apply for The Northshore Community College Scholarships
The application period begins on January 22, 2023. All scholarships require completed applications, letters of recommendation, and minimum GPA or transcript requirements ().
Applicants can view and apply for student awards twice a year:
Spring (March – July): For students enrolled in programs for the next academic year
Fall (September – October): For students enrolled in programs for the current academic year
Financial need is a common criterion for many student awards and to help determine unmet needs applicants will be asked to complete a detailed financial section of the application. To help you prepare, take a look at the NCCS Needs Assessment (XLS 24KB) and begin documenting your expenses and resources for the academic year.
Be sure to read this section carefully and review your numbers to make sure they are accurate. Depending on the student awards you apply for, you may be required to complete references to support your application. In total, there are three types of references applicants may be asked to provide.
Applicants should review the reference information below and make a special note of who they will be approaching, should they be required to submit references with their award application?
Reference Letter: The student award description will specifically state who should complete the reference letter and what qualities or experiences to address.
General Reference Questionnaire (PDF 96 KB) – A standardized form to be completed by someone who has supervised applicants in the past. Preferred parties include professors, teachers, employers/supervisors, and community organizations.
Community Service Reference Questionnaire (PDF 92KB): A standardized form to be completed by a member of a community organizer who has supervised volunteer activities.
Common Mistakes to Avoid When Applying for Northshore Community College Scholarships 202 2
The following are some common mistakes applicants make on student award applications. To ensure that your application is not considered void or incomplete, please review these tips carefully.
- Incorrect reference types have been sent. Be sure to take the time to check the type of referral required for the award, as well as who specifically can and cannot complete it. If the references are incorrect, your application for student awards will not be considered.
- Request student awards for which you are not eligible. Be sure to read the student award post carefully before applying; Please take a moment to read the eligibility sections of the publication. You don’t want to spend time and effort on an application, only to realize it wasn’t considered because you don’t meet all the requirements.
- Errors with the financial section; adding a ‘0’ or missing a field can have a big impact on your financial need calculation. Be sure to review this section carefully before submitting, please read all descriptions carefully to ensure you are providing the correct information required.
