Scholarship details
The University of Hong Kong (HKU) offers a wide variety of scholarships of different types available for both incoming and current students. One of the most prominent grants is the Paul and Margaret Todd Scholarship for Medical and Nursing Students. The establishment of the scholarship can be rooted back then in 2011 when a donation was made by Professor Sir David Todd and a friend to the Medical Faculty. This is in memory of the late parents of Professor Todd, Dr. Paul Jerome Todd and Mrs. Margaret Todd.
Since then, one scholarship of the value of HK$12,000 or around $1500USD is awarded to a medical or nursing undergraduate student of the Medical Faculty by nomination in the pursuit of developing students dedicated to undertake service to the poor and sick in Asia, or those committed in an endeavor of the same nature. To comply this, it is a requirement for a student to render a period of service not less than four weeks.
The quality of the proposal submitted or the impact of the work achieved serves as the primary basis of the award. Academic merit and financial need may also be considered.
Merit-based Scholarships and Enrichment Scholarships for current students are the types of scholarships covered by this program. Students who are seeking for financial assistance are also encouraged to apply.
Please wait for further announcements about the scholarship by keeping yourself updated through the HKU Scholarships’ website.
