Our commitment extends for a maximum of two years, with awards for the year 2024 set at R40,000 per academic year. About the Scholarship Provider:

The Canon Collins Trust, an educational and legal assistance trust fund, extends scholarships to citizens of Southern Africa, enabling their participation in master’s degree programs at select reputable United Kingdom universities affiliated with the Trust. With a history spanning over three decades, the Trust has played a pivotal role in empowering thousands of individuals who have gone on to contribute significantly to their communities through non-governmental organizations (NGOs), businesses, and governmental roles. The development of Southern Africa hinges on robust leadership across various sectors, and higher education stands as a transformative force within society. However, as the benefits of pursuing higher education continue to expand, so do the associated costs. The underfunding of postgraduate education poses a substantial obstacle to progress. To address this, we have provided financial support to over 4,000 individuals, enabling them to advance their education and seek solutions to pressing challenges facing contemporary Southern African society

Our scholars are expected not only to possess an impressive academic record but also to demonstrate a commitment to leveraging their skills for positive impact through research and application. Throughout the scholarship journey and beyond, we actively foster opportunities for mutually beneficial learning and collaboration among scholars, academics, and civil society organizations. Additionally, we advocate for quality and equity in South Africa’s educational system by supporting partner organizations like Equal Education, ensuring access to elementary and secondary education.

Our work is deeply rooted in the spirit of solidarity forged during our involvement in the anti-apartheid movement. Through partnerships with organizations such as the Legal Resources Centre and Equal Education, we extend our assistance to some of South Africa’s most marginalized communities. We hold our partnerships in high regard, viewing them as a means of fostering mutually supportive solidarity. Accountability, transparency, and a commitment to equitable dealings underpin our partnerships, allowing us to harness each other’s contributions effectively.
