Scholarship details
Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship is up for grabs. Students targeted are undergraduate and graduate candidates. Applicants from the United States, Australia, Canaada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom are welcome.
The Scholarship is given for students who want to enroll in a natural science course (Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering, Bioscience, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Neural and Behavioral Studies, IT and IT Engineering, Electrical Engeneering, Information Sciences, Materials Sciences and Mathematics as well as Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering, among others.
The Scholarship being a rather generous one, it covers all tuition and education fees. In addition, it offers a bursary between $25,000 -38,000 depending on the degree applicants choose. Successful candidates may apply for paid summer internships and will receive additional mentoring.
The SMART scholarship has been trying to bolster up the number of students who take subjects that have to do with natural sciences. Natural sciences will account for a growing part of scientific advancement today, and to this end every institution of higher learning is scrambling to make it possible for gifted individuals to study in that field without having to worry about money.
In order to qualify, applicants must be from of the above-mentioned regions. In addition, they need GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The deadline is by 1 December, 2017.
