Scholarship details
The Vienna Center for Logic and Algorithms also known as VCLA invites all outstanding female students to apply for the prestigious Helmut Veith Stipend for the academic year of 2023-2024. The scholarship opportunity aims to support exceptional and enthusiastic female students who want to fulfill their master’s degree program in an eligible field related to the scholarship program.
The stipend will support the students with a strong commitment to further their higher education in the Computer Science Field. Successful applicants for the scholarship will have the opportunity to pursue their higher education at the Vienna University of Technology and all courses will be taught in the English language. The scholarship wants to encourage women and empower them with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in their academics and career growth. The program will be held in the upcoming winter semester of 2023/2024 or the subsequent summer semester of 2024. The two semesters will be presenting an ideal entry for students who want to start thier academic journey in Germany.
About The Helmut Veith Stipend

The Helmut Veith Stipend was created to give tribute to his legacy Helmut Veith (1971-2016) a brilliant computer scientist. Throughout his career, Vieth has significantly contributed to the various situations and realms in the computer science discipline, computer aid verification, logic in computer science, computer security, and software engineering. His untimely passing back in 2016 has profound loss to the fields which left a void of the remains unfilled. His contribution to the technical realm played a knowledgable significance and his advocacy and mentorship for women in computer science serve as a motivation for the scholarship program.

About the Provider
The Vienna Center for Logic and Algorithms was founded in September 2011 and opened its doors to students in January 2012. The Vienna Center for Logic and Algorithms (VCLA) is a dynamic initiative located in the Faculty of Informatics at Technische Universität Wien – TU Wien Vienna University of Technology. Its main goal is to promote global collaboration in the fields of logic and algorithms, bringing together brilliant minds from around the world to push the boundaries of knowledge in these areas.
VCLA academic endeavors extend its influence through outreach initiatives, The initiatives are designed to achieve their two primary objectives. These objectives are to improve the education of the younger generations and to cultivate a deeper appreciation of research in fields that conduct the fields of mathematics, computer science, logic, and artificial intelligence. Through their efforts, they connect bridges to academic endeavors and the wider public which enables an understanding of how their objectives shape the world.
Annually they provide opportunities not only to local students but also to international students who want to develop their knowledge and career in Germany. VCLA collaborates with different institutions and paves its way for the future where Logic and Algorithms have broader horizons of human understanding.

Scholarship Eligibility
Before proceeding with the application the students must meet the eligibility of the scholarship program.
- Interested students must be eligible for admission to the TU WIEN master’s degree program in Computer Science.
- Applicants must have good communication skills in oral and written English, all taught will be in the English Language.
- Students can apply for the funding before or same time as applying for admission. However, students will get additional funding if they are accepted to an unconditional master’s program at TU WIEN. Application to the funding will not take place for the application for admission, and even if the students are offered for funding it doesn’t mean that they will be automatically awarded with the scholarship program.
For Female Students
The female students must meet the following conditions to be eligible for the stipend:
- Must be holding a bachelor’s degree in computer science or mathematics or equivalent.
- Must have technical knowledge and extensive mathematical interest in any of Helmut Veith’s areas of research which can be found on the official website of the provider.
Application Process
The application can be accessed in an online portal provided by VCLA. The application form must be completed and submitted electronically.

- Official transcript of records
- Certificates
- Diploma
- Two reference letter ( Letter of Recommendation)
- English Language Certificates
- Copy of the applicants passport
All application materials can be submitted electronically, keep in mind that all late and incomplete applications will not be considered.
Scholarship Condition
- The recipients are required to show good progress during their studies for a master’s degree.
- The recipients must earn at least 25 ECTS credits on each term on the average of a master’s degree.
- They should maintain a good academic grade an average of 1.5 or lower.
- The scholars must be living in Austria during the school terms
- There might be an exception for the internships with approval
- The funding will last up to two years depending on the students who can maintain all the conditions mentioned below.
Scholarship Awards
The Vienna Center for Logic and Algorithms will be providing an award to the successful students.
- EUR 6,000 which will be provided annually for their stipend for up to two years.
- Full tuition fee waiver
Application Deadline
The deadline to complete and submit the application is until November. The scholarship will be offered annually with the same application deadline.
