The Take Stock in Children Scholarship Program 2022 offers students college scholarships, caring volunteer mentors, and hope for a better life. Your wraparound services begin in middle school, continue through high school, and include your transition to college.
During Broward County’s low-income and at-risk student population crisis, only 52% graduated from high school (FLDOE, 2017), and only 49% of these students are expected to enroll in college during the first year of high school graduation. (National Center for Education Statistics, March 2015).
Additionally, according to the US Census Bureau, unemployment rates are highest among those without a high school diploma and contribute to Broward County’s 12.9% rate of youth not attending school or working (OpportunityIndex.org).
The interested student will obtain his scholarship when he has fulfilled the stipulations of the contract he signed at the time of registering for the Scholarship and also if he has graduated from high school.
About the Take Stock in Children 2023 Scholarship Program
TSIC of Florida was established in 1995 as a non-profit organization in Florida that provides a unique opportunity for low-income youth/students, many from minority families, to escape the cycle of poverty through education.
Each child selected for the TSIC application receives four-year college tuition or a vocational scholarship purchased from the Florida Prepaid Tuition Program.
This scholarship is in the form of a 2+2 student, which entitles the student to two years of tuition at a community college and 2 years at a university.
What are the benefits of the Taking Stock scholarship for children?
Taking stock in the Children’s Scholarship Program 2023 is worth $5000.
The TSIC scholarship covers tuition only and does not include room, board, books, fees, travel, and other expenses. The scholar is required to apply for additional aid to help pay for costs not covered by the TSiC FPP scholarship.
What is the scholarship requirement?
These scholarships are only available to students who meet the standard criteria established by the Florida Take Stock in Children Program.
Extra information
The Take Stock in Children / Entry grant is subject to these rules and obligations. Failure to comply may result in loss of scholarship credits.
Each year, after completing the annual FPP survey, the scholarship recipient will receive an updated scholarship card and should contact their Student Advocate to receive the most up-to-date card.

Program information can be found on the Invest in Children (TSIC) website. To be qualified to participate in the TSIC Program, students must be in grades six through nine and demonstrate.
Frequent questions
Students enroll in the program from sixth grade through their senior year of high school and continue to be mentored until they graduate from high school. Therefore, Taking Stock for Kids students range in age from 11 to 18 years old.
Mentors and mentees meet only at school (during school hours). However, if your mentee invites you to a school-sponsored event, such as a soccer game or debate competition, she can attend the event with parental permission.
You can become a mentor in three easy steps:
- Complete and submit a Youth Mentoring Application.
- Attend a combined mentor training and fingerprinting session in the Taking Stock in Kids office.
- Receive a Level 2 clearance from the School Board and a letter of Taking Stock Matching for Kids.
