Scholarship details
Every year, the Swiss Confederation sponsor the Government Excellence Scholarships in a bid to promote research cooperation and international exchange between Switzerland and more than 180 other nations of the world.
This research grant is open to post-graduate researchers from any discipline as long as they hold a minimum of a Master’s degree and have plans to come to Switzerland to further their studies or pursue research at doctoral or post doctoral level.
Host institution:
One of the ten Swiss cantonal universities, public teaching and research institutes or the two Swiss federal institutes of technology.
Level of study:
Doctoral or a post doctoral studies or research in any available discipline
Target group:
The scholarship is open to international students who hail from more than 180 countries.
Scholarship inclusions:
The grant for school covers a monthly payment, health insurance, exemption of tuition fees, housing allowance, air fare, etc. For exact scholarship benefits interested candidates may refer to the country-specific fact sheets.

The deadline for this grant for school is between September-December 2019. This would depend on the Swiss embassy to which the application was submitted.
