Scholarship details
In honor of the Walter J. Travis’ achievements and contributions to the sport of golf, the Travis Society established the Walter J. Travis Memorial Scholarship in 2009. Considered as an expert in his field, Walter J. Travis’ contributions to golf are unmatched from being a golf magazine editor, to a grass expert, and being a golfer himself.
The scholarship is open to students thinking of pursuing a career in landscape design, golf course architecture, golf course turf grass management, golf course superintendent, golf manager, and sports journalism. Aside from that, students who are outstanding in the sport will also be eligible for the scholarship and competitive records will be the basis for that.
In order to be eligible for the scholarship, the applicant must be able to present a proof of enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate level. The applicant must also be full-time enrolled also.
The scholarship is worth $1000 and in order for interested individuals to apply, a scholarship application form must be accomplished. This accomplished form together with other documents that would prove the applicant’s claims should be emailed at the official address of the foundation.
