UNESCO 2023 Scholarship Program aims to grant opportunities for students to follow a short course based on the participant’s choice of study.

The UNESCO International Category II Center for Sustainable Energy Development (ISEDC) in Moscow (Russian Federation) is inviting applications for twenty (20)  fellowships of four (4) weeks duration each in 2023. This program is in line with the strategy and objectives of those approved.

The aim of this UNESCO fellowship program is to enhance capacity building and human resource development in the area of ​​sustainable and renewable energy sources in developing countries and countries in transition.

Training activities within the framework of these scholarships are sustainable in specialized institutions of the Russian Federation. The medium of instruction will be Russian. UNESCO will solicit applications from developing countries and countries in transition.

What you need to know about the UNESCO/ISEDC fellowship program

In accordance with the strategy and objectives of the UNESCO Program and Budget approved for the Fellowship Program Section, the UNESCO International Center for Sustainable Energy Development (ISEDC) Category II in Moscow (Russian Federation) is offering thirty (30) fellowships of four (4) weeks duration each in 2012. Each invited Member State is requested to nominate a maximum of two (2) candidates.

Level / field of study

It is a Short Course scholarship, candidates can choose to study in the following fields of study, which are aligned with UNESCO objectives and program priorities, in accordance with 35 C/5 approved and in accordance with decisions made by the Executive Board (161 EX / Decision 3.6.3. 165 and 8.6 EX / Decision XNUMX):

(a) Energy and sustainable development;
(b) ecological management of energy resources;
(c) renewable energy;

Host Nationality:

The UNESCO/ISEDC Fellowship Program 2023 will be taken in Russia.

ISEDC Benefits:

  • Beneficiaries will be exempt from paying tuition fees for the entire duration of studies/training;
  • Fellows will undertake studies/training under the supervision of a study adviser or director who will be provided by the host institution;
  • The donor government will pay stipends to beneficiaries on a monthly basis, in local currency. The stipend of four hundred and seventy-five (475) US dollars is intended to cover living expenses such as room, board, out-of-pocket and incidentals. The donor will determine the amount of the stipend to be awarded to the recipients;
  • ISEDC will assist in obtaining modest housing for the scholarship recipients.

UNESCO Benefits

  • UNESCO will cover the cost of round-trip international travel at the cheapest fare and the most direct flight.
  • A one-time travel allowance of US$100 (one hundred US dollars) will be paid by UNESCO prior to the fellows’ departure to the Russian Federation.
  • Health insurance. To take advantage of this right, the beneficiaries must be declared medically fit by the UNESCO Medical Service, which examines the complete medical records.

OTHER CONDITIONS

  • Provisions cannot be made to finance or accommodate the relatives of the scholarship recipients.
  • Recipients will be required to submit to UNESCO a short progress report co-signed with the academic supervisor at the end of the first month and a final report at the end of the fellowship. These reports can be written in English or French and copies will be provided by ISEDC.

Visas

Selected fellows from countries where there are embassies or consulates of the Russian Federation must obtain their entry visa in their country before their departure.

Scholars from countries where there is no such embassy/consulate must obtain their visa through the nearest country where the Embassy or Consulate of the Russian Federation can be found.

UNESCO and ISEDC do not provide subsidies to cover passport and visa expenses.

Eligibility for the UNESCO/ISEDC Fellowship Program:

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

(a) A holder of at least a bachelor’s degree or a bachelor’s degree in Economics;
(b) Proficiency in the English language;
(c) Not more than 35 years of age;

Award duration:  Duration of one month:

How to apply for the UNESCO/ISEDC scholarship programme:

(a) All applications must be endorsed by the National Commission for UNESCO and must be duly completed in English or French with the following annexes in DUPLICATE :

  • The prescribed UNESCO scholarship application form;
  • six photographs;
  • Certified photocopies of diplomas.
  • Certificate of proficiency in the Russian language – a minimum of 500 hours of language training (if Russian is not the mother tongue or was the language of instruction for a few years of study);
  • Then, for those who have been selected , the UNESCO medical examination form duly completed by a recognized doctor (no more than four months before the actual date of the studies)

The prescribed form will be sent along with the award letter.

(b) Files that are incomplete or received after the deadline for the submission of applications and candidacies, and that do not meet the aforementioned requirements, will not be considered.
(c) Each invited Member State is requested to nominate no more than two (2) candidates.

UNESCO Scholarship Program Application Deadline

The deadline for the previous edition was April 3 and we hope that this year’s United Nations Scholarship will be within the same deadline. therefore the applicants are by this mail to gather all the required documents because they can come at any time.
