This scholarship meditation program is designed to help develop research skills and assist in the training of highly qualified staff by supporting students who show a high level of achievement in their studies.
The Canada Postgraduate Scholarships – Master’s (CGS M) program aims to help develop research skills and assist in the training of highly qualified staff by supporting students who demonstrate a high level of achievement in undergraduate and preschool studies.
The selection process and post-award administration for the University of Guelph CGS MSc Scholarships are carried out at the institutional level, under the guidance of the three agencies.
What You Need To Know About The University Of Guelph CGS Masters Scholarships In Canada
The University of Guelph CGS MSc Scholarships is offered by the Tri-council which assigns awards to universities specifying the number of awards each can offer its students annually.
CGS Awards can only be offered to students pursuing University of Guelph graduate programs at eligible Canadian universities, and the award must be held at the university that has made the offer.
Level/field of study
The University of Guelph Graduate Program Scholarship is available to students who wish to study a Masters’s program at the University of Guelph. The scholarship is available for all disciplines of academic study.
Host Nationality
The scholarship can be taken in Canada.
Eligible Nationality
The University of Guelph Graduate Scholarship is available to Canadian citizens.
Scholarship benefits
$17,500 for 12 months, non-renewable.
Eligibility for University of Guelph CGS Masters Scholarships:
- Eligible Countries: Canadian students are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
- Entry Requirement: To be eligible to apply, you must:
- be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada;
- be enrolled in, have applied for, or will apply for full-time admission to an eligible graduate program at the master or doctoral level at a Canadian institution with a CGS M award;
- Please respect the internal deadline for applying for admission to your intended study program. Contact the Faculty of Graduate Studies (or its equivalent) at selected Canadian institutions for more detailed information;
- Have completed, as of December 31 of the application year:
- Between zero and 12 months of full-time study (or its full-time equivalent) in the program for which you are applying for funding, which can be:
- a master’s program;
- a doctoral program you are entering without having been enrolled in a master’s program (ie direct entry);
- a combined doctoral program;
- a master’s program that will transition to an eligible doctoral program, either before or after award activation, without a master’s degree awarded (i.e. fast track); either
- a master’s program for which the degree requirements will be completed before the end of the award, allowing the award to continue into an eligible doctoral program; either
- between four and 12 months of full-time (or full-time equivalent) study in a master’s program for which degree requirements will be completed prior to award activation, allowing it to be activated during the subsequent doctoral program for which you are requesting funding (CIHR and NSERC only);
- Not have previously held a CGS M. For CIHR and NSERC, scholarship support for postgraduate study (masters and doctoral) is limited to a lifetime maximum of four years (48 months) full-time
- If you have received maximum support for your studies at the graduate level from any of the three federal grant agencies, you may not be eligible to apply for a CGS M;
- Have achieved a first-class average **, as determined by the host institution, in each of the last two years of study (full-time equivalent);
- submit a maximum of one scholarship application per academic year to CIHR, NSERC, or SSHRC (the Research Portal will allow the application to be submitted to up to three institutions)
How to apply?
Applicants must complete and submit the online application using the Research Portal. Students should refer to the CGS M Instructions for Applying for an ITIN for details on how to complete their application.
Also, the Canadian Common CV (CCV) and confirmation number were uploaded to the CGS M application on the Research Portal.
- Applications will be reviewed and ranked by the applicant’s current or proposed school/academic department.
- The Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies Awards Committee will review applications and select those that will receive a CGS M Award at the University of Guelph.
