About the University
KNUST, which was founded in 1952, has a long and illustrious history in its development into a world-class university. KNUST was founded by Kwame Nkrumah, the African Personality of the Century and a pioneer of African freedom. KNUST believes in achieving success via hard work and dedication. 2. Aga Khan Foundation Scholarship Program
Each year, the Aga Khan Foundation awards a limited number of postgraduate scholarships to outstanding students from select developing countries who have no other means of funding their studies, with the goal of developing effective scholars and leaders and preparing them for employment, primarily within the AKDN. Scholarships are provided on a 50/50 grant/loan basis once a year in June or July through a competitive application process. The Foundation prioritizes requests for Master’s level courses but will consider Ph.D. applications only in the event of exceptional students who have been highly recommended for doctorate study by their teachers and who require a Ph.D. to achieve their career goals (academic or research-oriented).
Applications for short-term courses are not accepted, nor are applications from students who have already begun their studies.
The following are the key criteria used to choose award recipients: l) continuously strong academic records, 2) actual financial need, 3) admittance to a highly respected university or program of study, and 4) connection of the field of study to AKDN’s focus areas. Candidates are also judged on how well-thought-out and well-coordinated their educational and professional plans are, as well as their extracurricular interests and accomplishments, ability to attain their objectives, and chances of success in a foreign academic environment. Applicants should have a few years of professional experience in their chosen field.
3. Mandela Rhodes Scholarships
The Mandela Rhodes Scholarship provides full support for all of your study-related expenses. It pays for tuition at a recognized South African institution of higher education for a one-year Honours degree or a two-year Masters’ degree in any discipline. Tuition and registration fees, study materials, research, and medical aid allowances, lodging and food, personal allowance, and economy class transport to and from your home country to your South African university at the start and completion of your degree are all included. In 2007, the MUSTE scholarship was created, which provides winners with financing for undergraduate studies for the duration of their undergraduate program. Tuition and a living allowance are included in the prize. Every year, the program provides an average of 100 possibilities. According to financial documents, as of October 2010, Mr. Ovia had invested 100 million Naira in the initiative, which benefited 1,500 people. Mr. Ovia sought to create a network of future leaders within Nigeria who can compete globally with their peers, contribute new ideas and creativity, and are committed to improving the lives and circumstances of people in their various areas by founding the MUSTE Scholarship. The grant is available to all Nigerian undergraduate university students. Each year, one hundred (100) recipients are chosen from a pool of qualified applications. 9. UNU-WIDER Winter School for African Researchers 2022
The course’s goal is to give African academics a better understanding of the theories, methodologies, and data that may be used to perform high-quality tax and development economics analyses.
